Today I’m not so much sharing my thoughts as my research and reading.
These are passages that I have identified with...  They  have helped and encouraged me.
I would recommend your reading the Psalms right now.

Ps 77:7-20      Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? 8  Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? 9  Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah.
[David is distraught! There seems to be no end in sight.  Is there and end to God is his query]
10  Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed."
[David says “IT IS ONLY ME, MY GRIEF... THAT HAS CAUSED THIS THINKING”
it isn’t RIGHT THINKING, but the thoughts have haunted him]
[now David corrects his thinking...  ]
11  I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.  12  I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. 13  Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? 14  You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. 15  You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. 16  The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.   17  The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there. 18  The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. 19  Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known. 20  You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Listen to David in a parallel psalm:
Ps 143:1-12    Hear my prayer, O LORD, Give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness! 2  And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no man living is righteous. 3  For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.  4  Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart is appalled within me.
5  I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your doings; I muse on the work of Your hands.   [compare vs 11-12 above]  6  I stretch out my hands to You; My soul longs for You, as a parched land. Selah. 7 ¶  Answer me quickly, O LORD, my spirit fails; Do not hide Your face from me, Or I will become like those who go down to the pit. 8  Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul. 9  Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; I take refuge in You. 10  Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.  11  For the sake of Your name, O LORD, revive me. In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble. 12  And in Your lovingkindness, cut off my enemies And destroy all those who afflict my soul, For I am Your servant.
[I needed to read the above a number of times before it truly started to sink in...]

Ps 4:8   In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.
